The College has a recognized Students’ Union consisting of class representatives elected by the students of the college. The union has many subcommittees each headed by a Professor-in-charge to conduct different co-curricular activities, e.g. Games and Sports, Cultural and Social functions, Common room and Indoor games, Magazine, Students’ welfare etc .
General Secretary, Vice-President and Assistant General Secretary and other office Bearers are elected by the class representatives in a meeting convened by the Principal. In the subsequent meeting different sub-committees are formed and their secretary, Assistant Secretary and Members are elected .
General Secretary of Student’s Union is Ex-officio member of the Governing Body. Academic and other sub-committees .
Students’ Union organizes Annual Athletic Sports (for boys and girls), inter-class competitions in various outdoor and indoor games like football, cricket, table tennis carom etc. Students of the college take part in many events of the Calcutta University and inter-district tournaments and other games like badminton, volley ball, weight lifting, boxing etc. with remarkable records of success very often .
Boys and Girls students have separate Common rooms provided with indoor games facilties like, carom, table tennis, chess etc .
College magazine is published annually in the month of January / February every year. Each managed by a Committee, with Principal / Teacher-in-charge as President and comprising two members of the teaching staff as Editors and two students at the Education Board .
Periodically Wall Magazines are brought out by the students’ union. Wall magazines are of non-political and creative literary type. These Wall magazines must secure the prior approval of the Head of the magazine sub-committee and the Principal / Teacher – in – charge of the college .
Social and cultural functions are organized by the Students’ Union. Cultural Competitions are held and prizes are given to the best performers .
Lectures, Seminars, Debates and Discussions are organised from time to time in which not only the students and staff of the College but also distinguished academicians and eminent personalities from outside the College participate .
Students’ Canteen is under the management of Students’ Union and partly financed by College as subsidy .
The union functions to promote Students’ Welfare. It assists the Principal / Teacher-in-charge in selecting students for awarding concession in tution fee and granting lumpsum financial assistance from the Students’ Aid Fund .
The Students’ union runs a charitable library under this name in the college premises to provide books to the relatively poor and needy students’ both in Honours and General Stream .
